"Last summer I made a performance with Currende, the choir conducted by Erik Van Nevel, in the context of the commemoration of the Great War, which was so good, what a group of voices can do with feelings and a story is magical."

Jean Richafort, Missa Veni Sponsa Christi
Jean Richafort was probably born in Hainaut and studied with Josquin des Prez. Between 1507 and 1509 he worked as a choirmaster at the Sint-Rombouts cathedral in Mechelen and between 1542 and 1547 at the Sint-Gilliskerk in Bruges. At a certain moment he seems to have been affiliated with the French royal chapel and there is some evidence that he was employed in 1531 in Brussels by governor Mary of Hungary. He wrote masses, motets and chansons, and a requiem mass in honor of Josquin des Prez.

Cipriano de Rore: Le Vergine
The poetry of Francesco Petrarca has inspired many artists through the ages. His sonets and stanzes are so musical and speak very intensely to the imagination. His muse Laura, who in a certain sense has always remained an unattainable love and for which he spent almost all his life in literary ecstasy, has been a constant inspiration to him.
Would you like to organize a concert with Currende? Feel free to contact us by telephone at +32 476 509531 or via the contact form on this site. Currende has a very large repertoire that runs from the late Middle Ages on Franco-Flemish polyphonists up to and including the high baroque. We will gladly provide you with an appropriate program proposal.
In its long existence, Currende brought more than 50 CDs onto the market, including real gems. Vous ou la Mort - Cantiones flamencas de amor cortés and el siglo XV is one of them. The sorrows of love are voiced by the most famous composers of the Renaissance. A 'must have' for every lover. View our CD pages for even more inspiration.
"Polyphony or baroque, it's always a party at Eriks, I know nobody else who can translate things technically in such a way and then make music out of it again."
